Points.com is looking for a Java Developer who can help them with their applications, “based on the latest technologies (Servlets, JSP, EJB, XML, Unix/Solaris platform, Weblogic, and Oracle 8 database).”
Sorry. There was a time when those were ‘the latest technology’, but for the most part, those are aged bits of technology now. Not too many people specifically go after Servlets/JSP these days; it’s still in use, but it’s hardly the latest technology. EJB is considered passe by most. XML is very common, but not exactly bleeding-edge. Unix/Solaris has slowly been giving way to Linux. Weblogic to Tomcat and JBoss, and Oracle 8 to … Oracle 9, 10, 11, MySQL and Postgres.
I’m not saying you can’t build a perfectly decent application with those technologies, but you can no longer call them “the latest.” Those days are gone.
